Nancy Irene Stauffer passed away on February 25, 2018 at the age of 71. She was born in 1946 to Kenneth and Cora Richards in Lindsay Ontario.

She grew up in Corbyville Ontario with her younger brothers Bob and Don Richards. She graduated Moira Secondary School in Belleville Ontario and went on to Ontario Business College where she got her diploma in bookkeeping and accounting. She worked as a model, bookkeeper and accountant before she met the love of her life and was united in marriage to Norman Stauffer in 1968.

In 1971 they made the decision to leave the corporate life in Vancouver and buy Manly Meadows in Grand Forks. While she helped her husband with his commercial ventures; Nancy started her own business selling milk, eggs, butter, cheese, wool and vegetables to Grand Forks and the Kootenays while raising her two children Lenora and David Stauffer.

In 1977 she got the job opportunity of a lifetime as Production/Promotion Manager, Copy Director and Continuity Director for CKLY Radio in Lindsay Ontario. She got many awards for her advertisement  and broadcasting  work as well as her volunteer radio announcements and hosting a Christian radio service, but her biggest thrill came when she was chosen to be one of the main media VIP's to cover the grand opening of Marine Land in Niagara Falls Ontario which she took her husband and children.

In 1979 she turned down a job opportunity by a big media corporation in Toronto Ontario to come back to the farm that she loved and missed. She resumed selling her farm products, did the accounting and bookkeeping for her and her husband, became actively involved in the cattle industry and developed a flock of sheep that had naturally coloured wool (grays, browns and blacks) that she sold all over the province. Her specialty wool was used to make sweaters and clothing that was sold all over the world.

She loved being a mother and went to every school function. She also put on events where she brought in baby chicks, lambs, wool, quilts, even a working spinning wheel. She donated to charity, volunteered, loved cooking, music, books, animals and showing off her dance moves.

Her battle with her illnesses stole a lot from her but through it all she always found time to make someone smile or give them a hug. She will be greatly missed.

Instead of a funeral service a party in the summer is planned to celebrate an awesome lady. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Grand Forks Funeral Home.
