Born in Revelstoke, Melissa leaves her partner and loving husband, David Reimer, and her beloved daughters, Isabelle (9) and Claire (6). She is dearly missed by her parents, Alan and Donna MacLeod and her brother, Shawn (Rachael, Isaac and Zoey).
Also mourned by her admiring parents-in-law, Derek Reimer and Maxine Charlesworth, her brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Trish Reimer, as well as many dear family, friends, and colleagues in Grand Forks and elsewhere.
Melissa was smart, artistic, determined, and athletic. She was an accomplished dancer in many genres from ballet to cancan. In her earlier years, she was a student of Regina Bittner-Rothbart (Nuance Dance Studio, Kamloops). Later, as a member of Les Folles Jambettes Cancan Dancers, she performed in places as far afield as Germany.
She was a graduate of Revelstoke Secondary School, UBC-Okanagan (Environmental Studies) and Selkirk College (Geographic Information Systems). In Grand Forks, she worked for Interform before becoming the owner/operator of ViewPoint GIS Services.
Melissa is sorely missed by many. She was wonderfully grounded, caring and generous with her family and friends. Her life was far too short but she made an impact on everyone she met. People were drawn to her because of her dazzling smile, her easy, caring nature and "can do" attitude. It came naturally to her to spread her energy, her positivity and her love.
Despite all she endured since her breast cancer diagnosis three and half years ago, she never wavered in her determination to fight on. She wanted to be with the people she loved most, her family and her friends. Her struggle was full of grit as well as grace.
A memorial event will be announced later.
