September 16, 1926 - January 22, 2019
Mary Slastukin passed away peacefully on January 22, at the age of 92, at Boundary Hospital surrounded by her family.

Mary was born on September 16, 1926 in Germany to Franziska and Karl Ebner. They moved to Canada when she was 3 years old. She remembered growing up near Osoyoos and riding horses up into the mountains.

Mary met Peter Slastukin while he was working in the orchards there. They were married in 1947 and lived in several places, Grand Forks, Krestova, Vancouver, Agassiz, and finally settling in Gilpin for the past 40 years.

Mary loved her family and was very happy cooking and baking for all of them. But, she was happiest when she was in her garden or greenhouse surrounded by all the plants and flowers she would lovingly start from seed. Mary also enjoyed reading. After she got married she learned how to speak and sing in Russian.

Mary was predeceased by her parents, her husband of 51 years Peter in 1999, son-in-law Jack Worrall in 2005, sister-in-law Trella Ebner in 2018, and brother-in-law Delvin Berg in 2018.

She will be sadly missed by her children Grace Worrall, Naida Stoochnoff, Peter (Katie) Slastukin, Yuri (Laurie) Slastukin, 7 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, brother Karl Ebner and sister Rose Berg.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and other staff of the Boundary Hospital for the excellent care of Mary in her final days. No service by her request.
