It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Planedin. Born to John and Mary Jmayoff of Grand Forks BC on Oct 14, 1938. Mary spent her youth in Grand Forks before marrying Gordon Planedin also of Grand Forks at the age of 17.
Mary worked hard alongside Gordon all her life, from home building, landscaping, and electrical, all while raising children.
Mary and Gordon bought and renovated the Grand Forks hotel and restaurant in 1974 and ran it for 4 years, then bought the property now known as Cascade Cove campground which they built and operated for over 30 years.
Mary was predeceased by her daughter Debbie in 2020, and leaves her husband Gordon daughters Karen (Matt) Liz (Gary) and Gord jr. As well as grandchildren Gord & Bailey Shaw, Lexi and Matt Fulop and Ryan Cook. She is also survived by 3 great grandchildren, Ava Fulop, Max Downing and Blake Downing.
Mary passed away peacefully at the Rezansoff cottage at Boundary Hospital on Feb 13, 2024 where resided for the past 10 years.
We would like to thank all the staff at Boundary Hospital who were so caring & kind to her for her duration there. She made many friends with the residents and wonderful staff.
We would also like to extend a huge thank you to JJ Verigin for his officiating at the funeral.
Also thank you to all kitchen staff, grave diggers, and to the Grand Forks funeral home for their excellent job & support during this difficult time.
