Marven passed away peacefully in Boundary
Hospital, Grand Forks, B.C. He was predeceased by
his parents, sister Lois and brother Earl. He is survived by his sister Arnolda Nini, and his children, David
MacIntosh, Shiela Roberts, and Marie Beynen.
Marven was born in Bathurst, N.B., in 1927. He enlisted in January 1945 and served for 25 years with R.E.M.E., including time with Peacekeeping Forces in Germany, and Special Services in Egypt, and advanced to the rank of Sergeant Major.
In later years Marven worked many jobs, and then retired to farm in Grand Forks in 1992. He was very talented in leather carving and saddle repair, and enjoyed breeding and raising horses. Marven was a great story-teller who loved and enjoyed life to the fullest. He was an active member with the Royal Canadian Legion, serving in several offices, and was also president of the Lions Club.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Grand Forks Royal Canadian Legion at 11:00 a.m., February 9, 2013.
