We are sad to say Marlene Engels passed into the hands of God on August 1st, 2014, just before her 80th birthday. She was born in Sydney, Manitoba, September 8th, 1934, to Florence and Edward Jenkins. From an early age her artistic talents shone through. In school whenever a special poster or banner was needed Marlene and her cousin Muriel were called upon to create it. She loved to crochet, paint, and write poetry. In later years she even joined the Writers Guild and showed some of her paintings at the art gallery. She was laid to rest on August 9th, 2014 in Grand Forks.

Marlene was predeceased by her mother & father, her sister Joyce, daughter Valerie, and by her loving husband Arthur Engels. She is survived by sons Dana & Darrel Green (Paula); daughter Teresa Cooper (Dean); stepchildren Cynthia, Rhonda, Wayne, Linda, Teg, Shirley, Darlene and Rudy; 27 grandchildren and over 20 great grandchildren; her sisters Margaret Darbyshire, Shirley Paulsen (Percy); brother in-laws David Engels (Linda) and Bob Fujimoto (Verla). In lieu of flowers, Marlene requested that donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada. Arrangements are under the direction of Valley Funeral home.
