Marion Lobay, born May 11, 1933, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2022.
She was born to parents Bill Kurnoff and Mary Ogloff in Grand Forks, BC. She had two brothers Mike and Billy. She was raised at a Doukhobor village near Hardy Mountain. She attended school in Grand Forks and later in Oliver, when she moved there with her parents.
She worked with her parents in the fruit packing industry. She married Walter Vatkin in 1953 and moved to Midway, BC. She had three children with Walter; Robert (predeceased 1972), Randy (predeceased 1961) and James. Her husband Walter passed away in 1962.
She moved back to Grand Forks and then married George Lobay in 1964. She had two children with George; Doug and Arlene. She was predeceased by her husband George in 2010. She is survived by three children, Jim (Monette), Doug (Natalie) and Arlene; three grand children Rachel, Jessica and Christina.
There will be no funeral service by request. A private family interment will occur at a later date.
