Marie (nee Dergousoff) Swetlishnoff, age 90, passed away into the presence of her Lord Jesus on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at Boundary Hospital. Marie was born in Buchannan, Sask. on January 14, 1922. She came to Grand Forks with her family when she was 20 and continued to live there all her life. Marie and John Swetlishnoff. were married on June 16, 1945. They had 3 children, Wayne, Wendy and Randy.

Marie was a gifted woman who loved to share her gifts of gardening, knitting and cooking with others. Often her bright green eyes would light up because of a joke or some fun activity that she was planning. Marie loved her family and enjoyed family dinners and picnics. Marie loved life and had great faith in God. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend. Marie will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Marie was predeceased by her husband John, son Randy and brother Bill. She is survived by her son Wayne, daughter Wendy, sisters Hazel and Marjorie Dergousoff and sisters-in law Margaret Koftinoff and Vera Cherneko. Marie also had many nieces, nephews and extended family members.

A memorial service was held on October 20 at Grand Forks Christian Centre conducted by Pastor Henry Klassen and Pastor Mike Bidell. Arrangements were entrusted to Graham Funeral Home in Oliver, B.C. Wayne and Wendy would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff and doctors at the hospital as well as friends and family for all their support.
