July 9 1954 to August 15 2011

Margaret was born at Burnaby, B.C., to Anne and Joseph Labash. She is survived by her husband Allan Sandner, and many extended family and friends.

She was predeceased by her mother, Anne and father, Joseph Labash.

Margaret moved to Grand Forks at an early age and in her youth enjoyed many hobbies such as typing and playing the accordion. She loved music and sang and danced to her 50s and 60s music collection. Margaret learned many life skills and was competent in many areas. She was very articulate when it came to organizing her photo albums and keeping her diary. She enjoyed church services at the Sacred Heart Parish and joined in the hymns and prayers. After Margaret’s parents passed away in the late 80s, Margaret became more independent with the help of her care workers and friends in the community. She was actively involved in the Special Olympics.

On July 18, 1991, she was united in marriage to Allan Sandner. He was her “tall, dark, handsome prince” and she proudly became Mrs. Sandner. Together they enjoyed many community events and activities. In early 2000, Margaret’s health declined and she moved to a care facility at Castlegar, B.C. In 2005, she moved to Houston Home at Nelson, B.C. She was very happy in her new home and had wonderful care from the staff there. She was particularly close to Anna who cared for Margaret and they spent a lot of time together. Margaret’s health declined with the onset of various ailments.

She passed away peacefully on August 15, 2011, at Houston House in Nelson, B.C., at the age of 57. Cremation has taken place at the Thompson Funeral Service Crematorium in Nelson, B.C. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Margaret can be made at a charity of your choice.
