The family of Mable Konkin would like to announce that Mable has gone home to be with our Lord on July 19th, 2013 at the age of 93. She died peacefully at Hardy View Lodge where she has been cared for since May 2011.

Mable was born in Kylemore, Sask on August 14, 1919 to Mike and Mary Arishenkoff. Mable met and married Mike Konkin in Kylemore and shortly after their marriage they moved to Salmo, BC. In 1979, they moved to Grand Forks where they spent many happy years gardening, traveling and socializing.

Mable was predeceased by an infant son, Timothy, her parents, her half-sister Mary Makortoff, husband Mike and brother George Arisenkoff. She is survived by daughters Edna (John) Verschoor, Kathleen (Jim) Cherry, Gail Scherr, 13 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Mable is also survived by her sister Edna Cazakoff, brother Mike (Vera) Arishenkoff and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held at Grand Forks Funeral Home on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. followed by a burial at the Evergreen Cemetery.

A catered luncheon will be held at the Omega Restaurant at 12:30 p.m. Please call Gail at 250-442-5693 if planning to attend the luncheon. The funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Deborah Baker of Grand Forks Funeral Home, gffh@shaw.ca.
