MABEL McNEVIN

It is with fond memories but great sorrow that the family of Mabel McNevin announces her passing, after a lengthy illness, on October 3, 2010, at Boundary Hospital. Mabel was born Mabel Wishlow at Buchanan, Saskatchewan on November 28, 1927, to Dora and Fred Wishlow. She moved to Grand Forks and married Hector McNevin in 1951.

Mabel was predeceased by her husband Hector (2001), and her infant daughter Gaye her brother Mike Wishlow and her sister Helen Badduke. Mabel is survived by one sister, Verna Halgren and three brothers: Nick Wishlow, John Wishlow and Jerry Wishlow. She also leaves to mourn three daughters: Melanie (Ranko) Leckovic, Colleen (Mark) Edelsward and Shelley McNevin; one son, Daryl (Dawn Maximenko) McNevin; as well as nine grandchildren: Katrina, Kelsey and Boris Leckovic; Courtney, Alex and McKenzie Edelsward; and Kyle, Alicia and Colton McNevin.

Working at both the old Grand Forks Hospital and Boundary Hospital for many years, Mabel was also an active member of the Royal Canadian Legion and St. John’s United Church.

Funeral services were held on October 8, 2010, followed by interment at Evergreen Cemetery, Grand Forks, B.C. Arrangements were entrusted to Grand Forks Funeral Home. May she rest in peace.
