In Loving Memory ~

Well, he's finally passed on to his heavenly home. 101 years on this earth and dying on his birthday, February 4th. Lou was the oldest of 4 children, born in 1923 in Emmer-Compascuum, the Netherlands, to Wopke and Froukje deVries. His siblings were Wil, Anne and Ida, all living into their 90's.

Lou spent his early years living on a barge, grew up in Amsterdam and later became an accountant. After the war, in 1956, he immigrated to Canada with his wife, Grace and 3 children, Jeannette, Bob and Karel. In 1961, a fourth member, Paul, was added.

Lou was employed for many years at Vancouver General Hospital, where he was known as Larry. He enjoyed retirement in the Fraser Valley and moved to Ivy House, Grand Forks for his remaining years.

He had a desire to know God and for people to know of God's saving grace.

He is predeceased by his wife, Grace in 2008, and son Paul, in 2019.

He is survived by Jeannette (Gary) Miller, Bob (Jane) deVries and Karel deVries, 7 grandchildren and 13 great Grandchildren.

Many thanks to the Ivy House staff who put up with his idiosyncrasies, helped him through his declining physical abilities and loved him through it all.
