September 19, 1935 - November 2, 2023

In Loving Memory ~

With heavy hearts we announce the passing of our father and grandfather on November 2, 2023.

He leaves to mourn his son Scott McGillivray, daughter and son-in-law Lori and Dean Clutterbuck, grandsons Damon and Brodie Clutterbuck, sister Lorraine Kowblick, sister-in-law Elsie McGillivray and many nieces and nephews.

Lorne was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Arlene McGillivray, his parents Carl & Yvonne McGillivray, his two brothers Don and Ken, his brother-in-law Mike Kowblick and nephews Doug and Terry Kowblick and Claude McDonald.

Lorne was born in Naicam, SK on September 19, 1935 and was always proud to tell you of his Saskatchewan upbringing. After finishing school he spent some time working for SaskPower before attending Teachers College.

After teaching in various one room schools in Saskatchewan he moved to Kimberley where he met his wife to be. After marriage in 1963 they moved to Edmonton where he started his career as a Probation Officer and it was here that their son was born.

They returned to BC in 1967 and spent 3 years in Port Alberni where they welcomed their daughter. They then moved to Kamloops where they lived for 25 years before retiring at Christina Lake in 1996.

Lorne and Arlene enjoyed spending their winters in Mesa, AZ. Lorne moved to West Kelowna in 2019 to be closer to family.

Lorne was fun-loving and loved to laugh. He was known to be quite frugal but had a generous heart. He may have had an opinion or two and loved nothing better than a good debate over rum and coke. So please raise a glass in his memory.

A Celebration of Lorne's life will be held in the spring.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
