Feb 20, 1933 - Feb 20, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Lois Pauline Malakoff at the age of 85. She passed away peacefully at Grand Forks Boundary Hospital on Tuesday, February 20, 2018 with her loving family by her side.

Lois was born in Grand Forks BC in a Doukhobor village called "London" to parents Nick and Molly Elasoff. She was the third sibling born to a family of five siblings, which included her older sister Molly, older brother Alec, younger sister Alice and younger brother Bill.

She spent her youth living and working in Grand Forks, primarily on the family farm. At age 16 she went to the Okanagan to work in a cannery during the harvest season. Shortly after, in 1949 Lois met Gus Constantine Malakoff and on January 6, 1951 they were united in marriage. Initially they resided in Winlaw, BC and soon after they moved to Grand Forks, BC where they made their home and ran a small hobby farm while raising their two children.

Lois leaves behind her sister Alice Danshin, sister-in-law Marcia Elasoff, brother Bill Elasoff and sister-in-law Nadeen; her son Mike (Lorraine) Malakoff, daughter Meledy Malakoff (Lyle); and four grandchildren; Amanda Kurnoff, Nika (Josh) McPherson, Larya Kurnoff and Myia Malakoff.

Lois will be forever remembered for her bold strength in character, love of family, her kindness, and the ability to care and help support others. She enriched our lives beyond measure and will be dearly missed.

A funeral service was held Saturday, March 3, 2018 at Grand Forks Funeral Home followed by a luncheon at the USCC Community Centre.
