With heavy hearts and profound sadness the family wishes to announce that following a courageous battle with cancer, Les passed away on October 14, 2010. Les was born on October 15, 1947 in Matsqui, B.C.

Les is predeceased by his father Arthur and his mother Victoria. Les is survived by his loving wife Sandra of 19 years; his children, Leslie (Nicole) and Jason; step-children Cheri-Leah Henderson and Jonathon (Nami) Payne, three grandchildren: Brody, Ayla and Jaxon; seven step-grandchildren: Damian, Chelyndria, Mazie, Alaura, Colton, Anthony and Timothy; sisters, Delores (Marcel) St. Amand and Audrey (Maurice) Chase; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Les retired from Canada Border Service Agency in 2006. An avid outdoorsman, Les loved to hunt, fish, quad, garden, chopping wood and sitting by his fire pit enjoying time outdoors with his friends. Les’s memory will live in many peoples’ homes from the woodworking gifts he handmade. He loved to help others, especially in the winter plowing snow and having great fun doing it.

The family would like to thank his doctor, the home care nurses and all the dear friends and family who helped through this difficult time.

No formal services will be held at his request. Cremation has taken place and his ashes shall be scattered at a place he so loved. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Cancer Center for the Southern Interior, 399 Royal Ave., Kelowna, BC, V1Y-5L3. Arrangements were entrusted to the Baker family of Grand Forks Funeral Home.
