Laura passed peacefully at Talarico Place in Castlegar. Born outside of Veregin, Saskatchewan to parents Peter and Mary Rilkoff, Laura was a lifelong active member of the USCC. She was known for her optimistic outlook on life and her outgoing personality.
Laura married Joseph Makortoff in 1956. They lived most of their married life in Grand Forks, BC and raised their two children on their farm.
Laura was predeceased by her older brother Peter in 1927, mother Mary in 1959, father Peter in 1965, dearly loved husband Joseph in 1980, companion George Pereversoff in 1991, brother Sergei Relkoff in 1995, beloved son Raymond in 1997, friend Sam Kalesnikoff in 2015, beloved daughter Melanie in 2016 and sister-in-law Nellie Relkoff in 2021.
Left to mourn her passing are many nieces and nephews and their families, her step family, her many extended relatives from the Relkoff and Chutskoff families and her many friends.
May the lord accept her soul into his heavenly kingdom and may she rest in peace.
