October 3, 1947 - June 23, 2024

In Loving Memory ~

With great sorrow and sadness we announce the passing of Larry Seminoff on June 23, 2024 at Grand Forks Boundary Hospital surrounded by his family.

Larry was born October 3, 1947 in Penticton, but spent the majority of his life in Grand Forks. In his younger years he played many sports, including golf, winning the Christina Lake Men's Club Championship twice. However, Larry's true calling was baseball.

You could find Larry either coaching the BC championship Grand Forks Mets in 1969, coaching Babe Ruth Baseball to a 2nd place finish at the BC Championship series in Salmon Arm and coaching his daughter's softball team. He was also a scout for the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres all the while overseeing operations with Baseball BC and Men's Senior Baseball in the Kootenays.

Larry was also the original eloquent play by play voice of the Grand Forks Border Bruins.

He will be best remembered for being the founder and creator of the GFI which originated in 1969.

With his devotion for baseball, this tournament launched the careers of many MLB players, including John Olerud, Larry Walker and Josh Beckett to name a few. Larry remained as coordinator up until 2002 when he ended his run with the World Baseball Classic. He unselfishly continued to send his praises to the fans, volunteers and community for their support in making his life long dream a reality.

Afterwards, Larry was recruited by Prince George and he spent several years organizing and coordinating an international baseball tournament in that city.

Larry was recognized as Citizen of the Year in 1985 and awarded the Freeman of the City in 2022. He also received numerous awards and accolades with Baseball BC and Senior Baseball.

Although baseball was his love his main love was his wife, Flo of 51 years. He is also survived by his son Jeff (Diana), daughter Nicole (Roy), grandchildren Tasha (Andrew), Anastasiya, Karina, and Couy (Finn), brother John (Joanne), and sister Naida (Bob).

He was predeceased by his mother Pauline, father Andrew, and brothers Steve and Billy.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude for the kindness and care that Larry received from doctors and nurses at the Grand Forks Boundary Hospital.

As per Larry's request, there will be no service.

We are sure he has gone on to create his

own Field of Dreams in heaven.
