Larry Dickerson

February 22, 2019
Larry was born in 1944 in Michigan as the youngest of five children. He went on to obtain a PhD in psychology, while following his commitment to peace by registering for Conscientious Objector status, and working with the Navajo Nation in addictions counselling. He married and moved to Canada in 1978, raising three children and building a homestead in Northern BC. In 1988 they settled in Grand Forks where he spent 30 years teaching at Selkirk College and then as a retiree where he worked to build on the already strong sense of community in the area.

A loving son, brother, husband and father he was an intelligent, kind, fair and hardworking man. He sadly passed away of lung disease on February 22nd, 2019. He will be missed by many including his former students and colleagues at Selkirk, his co-volunteers at the food bank and other organizations, his extended family near and far, and his wife and three grown children.

Larry’s family has created a memorial webspace where we invite all who knew him to join us in remembrance and leave any of their thoughts or memories.
