Kurtis Reid Day

March 8, 1952 - November 15, 2014

With such sadness we say Goodbye to a wonderful man. Kurt passed away peacefully in Kelowna after many health battles over the past few years. Kurt was an adventuresome, fun loving, hard working and very sensitive man. Kurt travelled in his early years and had many great stories of his year spent living in Australia and New Zealand. Kurt worked for many years in the logging industry, he loved his time spent working on the ocean as a boomman both in Gibsons and Stewart B.C. Later in life Kurt decided to change careers and became a very successful realtor. Kurt and Lee met in 1977 and it was love at first sight for both. After 37 years they were still as much in love as the day they met. Best friends forever. Referred to as “the lovebirds” by the nurses in the hospital. Kurt had a passion for the ocean, boats and fishing. He was so happy to have gone on a West Coast fishing trip with two great friends where he caught the biggest fish and the stories would light up his face for the rest of his life. Predeceased by son Paul in 1990. Survived by his soulmate Lee, sons Mike (Sheri), Adam, parents Ches & Edy Day, siblings Laurie (Jim), Linda (Perry), Dale (Debbie), “Brother George” (Wendy). In-laws Gwen Furniss, Lynne & Verne Sjogren and Wendy & Don McDermid. Numerous aunts & uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews. No service by request. Kurt’s remains will be spread at his favorite fishing spot in Shearwater off “The Blue Dawg” next fishing season.
