In loving memory ~

It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Kathleen (Duralia) Davidson after a short but courageous battle with cancer. She died peacefully at home with her family and devoted Sheltie dog Sam by her side.

Kathy was born and raised in Grand Forks, B.C., the eldest of four girls. She was a terrific big sister and spent her younger years swimming and tubing on the Granby River with other neighborhood kids. She moved away briefly after graduating high school for post-secondary education before returning to Grand Forks to raise her son Curtis.

Kathy has always loved the great outdoors and enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, skiing, snowmobiling and quadding throughout her life. She passed these loves on to her son. Kathy was an avid gardener, and many benefitted from her hard work as she was generous with sharing her bounty of vegetables. Kathy was true to her Croatian heritage and was a fantastic cook and baker. Any home cooked meal was her specialty, and she made the best apple pie, a recipe she learned from her mother, also a fantastic baker. Never one to settle with poor quality food, Kathy spent her time in hospital organizing a boot legging system to satisfy her food cravings.

Kathy has always had a competitive spirit and enjoyed the years she participated in powerlifting competitions. She won trophies in competitions in the Boundary area. Kathy also enjoyed travelling, and Hawaii was a favorite destination. She loved 80s music, especially the band Journey, and will fondly be remembered for breaking out into song when she heard a favorite tune (sometimes singing the wrong lyrics!).

During her ranch years in the Christian Valley, Kathy spent many hours riding her beloved horses Buddy and then Teddy. She was one of the first members to start the Kettle River Horse Club and acted as Vice President. Kathy was also a member of the Rock Creek Ladies Institute. She was an asset to both groups because of her excellent organizational skills.

She is survived by her devoted husband Dan, son Curtis (Kayla), parents Frank and Barbara Duralia, sisters Marion (Rod), Betty, Gail (Jamie), nephews Robert, James, Ben, niece Kaitlin, and many extended family and friends from Ontario to the BC Coast.

A very special thank you to the team of doctors and nurses at Vancouver General Hospital Bone Marrow Transplant and Leukemia Unit where Kathy received exceptional care in her final months. Also, a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Tarr, Nurse Sandy and many neighbors and friends who have been supportive, helpful, and loving during Kathy's illness. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity in memory of Kathy.
