In loving memory ~
It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Kassia Stephanie Hardwicke. After a Brave Battle with Cancer, she was welcomed through the gates of Valhalla as the warrior she was destined to be. She passed away peacefully in her sleep while in Hospice where she was living in Oslo, Norway on February 15th, 2025.
Kassia was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in January 1986. From there she grew up in Grand Forks, B.C where she attended Hutton School and later Grand Forks Secondary School. After a few soul-searching years, she moved to New Westminster and continued her education, receiving a bachelor's degree in social work. Kassia was passionate about social justice and loved her work, particularly enjoying the years she spent supporting youth and young adults.
It was there in the Lower Mainland where she met the love of her life and married Markus Bruland. After several years, the happy couple moved to his homeland of Norway to continue their relationship and worldly adventures. They adopted a Wippet named Fenton who kept them busy!
She is survived by Markus Bruland (husband), Fenton (fur baby), Stephan Hardwicke (father), Janet Hardwicke (mother), Jessica Hardwicke Wheaton (Brendan) (sister), Louise Hardwicke and Judith Branford (grandmothers).
She was a fun-loving, free-spirited woman who knew what she wanted and would stop at nothing to achieve whatever goal she aspired to conquer. Her kind heart and loving smile will be missed by all whom she encountered.
Kassia, as we find your early departure from this world very hard to understand and accept, your ancestors must need you for a greater purpose.
