August 5, 2024

In loving memory ~

With heavy hearts we announce the death of Judith Alexanne McNamara of Grand Forks British Columbia, who passed away on August 5th, 2024, at the age of 79.

She was born in Vancouver, BC to Richard and Minnie Hall and had 2 older siblings Stuart and Dixie who have both predeceased her. Judy is also predeceased by her husband, Daniel McNamara (2023) and her son, Danny McNamara (1993). She is survived by her sons John (Kim) and David (Sharon) as well as grandchildren, Clare McNamara, Marlee Pettit (Mark) and Noah, Mya, and Ruby McNamara. Judy was also blessed with two great granddaughters, Ellie and Stella Pettit.

Dan and Judy had lived in the lower mainland of BC from their marriage in 1969 until the family moved to St. Catharines, Ontario in 1973. They moved to Grand Forks in 1990 when they bought Dave Dale Insurance with partners Lowell and Wayne Saxbee. Everywhere that Dan and Judy have lived they have maintained friendships that survived long distances, and have many family and friends in BC and Ontario have lasting memories of great times with lots of laughs, music and great food.

Judy was a kind, giving soul, who loved to read, travel, spend time in her garden, sew and knit, as well as cook. Her family and friends spent many evenings at the house enjoying her fine cooking and joyful conversations. She spent her working life as a partner and office administrator at Dave Dale Insurance. She volunteered regularly at the Grand Forks Art Gallery, which she was very proud to be a part of and donated regularly to various community events/charities. Judy travelled extensively, and found she made friends and connections easily wherever she went.

She will be dearly missed.

Memorial donations can be made to the Grand Forks Art Gallery (Gallery 2) or the BC Cancer Foundation

In keeping with Judy's wishes she was cremated and there will be a celebration of life this fall, details are still being confirmed.
