After a courageous battle, Joseph (Joey) Popoff succumbed to cancer on April 30, 2016 in Grand Forks, B.C. at the age of 66.

Joey was born to parents Joe and Mary Popoff on March 16, 1950 in Grand Forks. He was a dedicated hard worker, spending most of his time as a heavy equipment operator, building roads in northern B.C. He was much sought after for his expertise in this field. He retired in the early fall of last year due to his illness. Joey had a passion for his “scratch tickets” and trips into the woods for firewood. Always evident was his love and dedication to his family and friends at home, and in the north.

Joey is survived by his daughter Dana (Matt), grandsons, Ashton and Devin, former wife and close friend Karot his sisters Nina Trabenik and Irene (John) Pankoff and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father Joe, mother Mary and his daughter Danita. May your firewood always be stacked high Joey, till we meet again.

A celebration of life will be held on the 25th of June at 5425 Hughes Road, John and Irene Pankoff’s residence at 3:00 p.m.
