February 28, 1929 - February 22, 2022
Ted Goulah passed away peacefully at home in Grand Forks, BC just shy of his 93rd birthday.
It is with sadness that Gail Beatty (the late Gary), Wendy Sheppard, Karen Matthews (Bob) & Vicki Goulah (Carl)) announce the passing of our father Joseph Edmond Goulah (Ted). He was grandfather to Linda, Glen, Brenda, Brian, Kathleen, Elizabeth, Aonghus, Scott and Matthew, a great grandfather to Shane, Heather, Abby, Michael, Andrew, Ewan, Scarlett, Josie, Maia, Keegan, William and Logan, a great great grandfather to James, Jacob, Emilia and many other family members to numerous to list.
Dad was born in Tweed, ON, on February 28, 1929. He was one of thirteen children born to John and Margaret Goulah, he was one of the youngest of the thirteen and was the last surviving child of John and Margaret. Dad was predeceased by our brother John Goulah.
Dad was in the Merchant Marines as a young man. He later became a Tool and Die Maker working at Massey Ferguson in Toronto. He then moved the family to Tweed and worked at Deloro Stellite in Belleville.
To support his family, he also opened a campground (Greenwood Park) and worked at the Stoco Hotel in the evenings. He took the skills he learned in the tool and die industry and went into the carpentry business which became his lifelong passion.
Dad moved from Tweed to BC over thirty-five years ago, eventually making his home in Grand Forks, a small town in southern part of the province. He often said that was the first place that he ever felt at home, boasting that they rarely got snow that stayed on the ground for very long. He passed away in his home in his beloved town, which is how he would have wanted it to be.
Dad met the Marshall family in Grand Forks; he became friends with Roy Sandberg and soon got to know the rest of the family (Sharon, Shayna, Edan Marshall). They became his second family and he loved them dearly. We want to thank all the Marshall family for treating Dad like he truly was part of your family.
Dad requested to be cremated and his ashes brought back to ON where we will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.
A reception will be held in Grand Forks, BC in the near future the date and location yet to be determined. Please private message if you are interested in attending.
