In loving memory ~
(John) Bill was born on February 1, 1946, in Kimberley, BC and passed away on April 24, 2025 at the Trail Regional Hospital, Trail, BC at age 79.
Bill is survived by his loving wife Mary of 57 years, son Neil and Beki Gillespie, Scott Gillespie, brothers James Gillespie and family and Bob and Karen Gillespie and family, numerous nieces and nephews, and his best buddy Sully the Schnauzer.
Bill is predeceased by his parents Jim and Effie Gillespie and sister Linda Gillespie Sanche.
Bill was an accomplished businessman and entrepreneur in the communication industry. He was a pioneer in providing cable and internet to the Crowsnest Pass in Alberta and then onto British Columbia municipalities of Christina Lake, Grand Forks, Greenwood & Midway.
CKGF radio station in the Boundary was also one of Bill many successful business ventures.
After retiring in 2005 Bill and Mary purchased property in Bucerias, Mexico where they wintered for the last 18 years.
Bill was also an accomplished pilot of both fixed wing and helicopters. Bill and his best friend Lorne Earl partnered in Kootenay Airways, a chartered aviation business in the East and West Kootenays in the early 90s.
Bill will be fondly remembered by his generosity to all who knew him and his larger-than-life personality.
Friends and family are invited to join us for a celebration of life which will be held on Sunday, May 11, 2025 @ 2pm at the Christina Lake Community Hall. Sarah Stevens of Clark's Funeral Services has been entrusted with arrangements.
