John passed away suddenly at Boundary Hospital on March 22, 2020. John was born on February 01, 1935 at White Beach, Saskatchewan to Annie and John Ribalkin Sr. In 1947 they moved to Beaton, BC, then to Revelstoke, BC in 1952, Chase, BC in 1956 and then finally settling to Grand Forks, BC in 1972.
At the age of 15 and a half he started working at a local sawmill in Beaton, BC and then at Sunshine Lardeau Mines at Camborne, BC. After moving to Revelstoke he worked at the CPR shops until he moved to Chase, BC where he started working as a bulldozer operator before working for 9 years as a logging truck driver at various coastal camps. During one of his foreign travels, he drove city bus in Wellington, New Zealand for 6 months.
After his move to Grand Forks and until he retired, he drove transport trucks for various companies.
He enjoyed trucking and travelling the world. He was predeceased by his father in 1952 and mother in1995. He is survived by his sister Pauline Kanigan of Grand Forks, niece Elaine Kanigan of North Vancouver ,BC and nephew Mike Kanigan (Wannapa) of Grand Forks.
Cremation has taken place. All arrangements handled by Grand Forks Funeral Home & Cremation Centre Ltd.
