In loving memory ~

John Koftinoff was born on Jan 31, 1942, in Grand Forks to the family of John & Molly Koftinoff. Molly's maiden name was Mahonin. He was the oldest of two children, the younger being his sister Pearl.

In 1961, John was united in marriage to Polly Kurbatoff. Soon after they were blessed with a child, Gary Koftinoff, and a year later decided to move to Vancouver, where John attended the University of British Columbia, studying computer sciences. After 7 years in Vancouver, the family moved to Toronto, Ontario where he started work in a retail bookstore. He later became a buyer for Cole's Book Store in Mississauga, Ontario, and then a manager at a popular paint store chain, while Polly worked in the legal field.

A number of years after divorcing in 1979, John moved back to Grand Forks to spend time with his family, helping to take care of the house and caring for his father when his mother later passed away. During this time John worked for the USCC, doing snow removal in the winters and operating the sound system during festivities and concerts. During his life John maintained his interest in computers and used this knowledge to repair computers for various people in the Grand Forks area. John also enjoyed fishing with his father and doing various renovations on their house.

John Koftinoff passed away on Feb 22, 2024, peacefully in his sleep, in his home in Grand Forks. He was predeceased by his parents John and Molly Koftinoff. He is survived by his sister Pearl Cox and his two nephews Daryl and Darcy Cox, of Grand Forks, his son Gary Koftinoff with his wife Anna and his two grandchildren Anton and Alexander of Surrey, B.C, as well as numerous relatives and friends. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by all.
