In Loving Memory ~
John Harasemow was born in Appledale B.C., Slocan Valley, to parents Pete and Lucy Harasemow, the second child of five siblings. At the age of 18 he went to work in the orchards and cannery in Summerland, Okanagan.
It was here he began dating Mary Fominoff, also from the Slocan Valley. They were married, and had their first son Greg in 1960. In 1962 they moved back to the Valley, and had their second son Leonard.
John had a long work career: as a red seal mechanic for some six years, and as a licenced electrician for 24 years, whereupon he retired. John's practical mechanical and electrical knowledge enabled him to build, repair and maintain practically anything.
Following his sons, John became an avid downhill skier and held a seasons pass at Whitewater for many years. In 2004 John and Mary moved to Grand Forks to be closer to their sons.
John was a lifetime member of the USCC and took an active part in the organization. His health slowly declined and on July 10, 2022 he passed away peacefully at home with his family by his side. We were extremely sad at his passing and he will truly be missed. Services were held in Grand Forks on July 17, and in Appledale on July 18.
Special thanks to the Boundary Hospital and all of the home care staff , Deborah and Everret Baker of the Grand Forks Funeral Home, and all of the people who supported us during this difficult time.
May he rest in peace.
