John Dergousoff, age 83, passed away into the presence of his Lord Jesus on Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Hardy View Lodge. John was born at Buchannan, Sask. on December 18, 1928. When John was 16 he moved to Grand Forks with his family. A young woman who worked at a snack bar caught his eye and on October 20, 1951, Johnny and Hazel were married. John lived out his faith in God through his work and life. He was a skilled tradesman and spent his working life involved in many residential and commercial projects around Grand Forks and surrounding area. He enjoyed fishing and snowmobiling with his buddies, and rarely missed the baseball tournament. John loved to sing about heaven, especially in a trio with his cousins Hazel and Marjorie. He dedicated many years to serving in the church as song leader, sunday school teacher and deacon. John and Hazel served with Youth with a Mission in Hawaii and Hong Kong. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. John will be dearly missed by his family and by everyone who knew him.

John’s wife Hazel passed away last year on September 27th. John is survived by his son, David; daughter-in-law, Coral; daughter, Sharlene; son-in-law, Ken; daughter, Debbie; daughter, Carol; grandchildren: Vida (Brodie), Andrew, Shaun (Danielle) and Khera (Jeremy); and great-grandchildren, Colton and Kaydence.

A memorial service conducted by Pastor Henry Klassen will be held on August 18th at 11 a.m., at the Gospel Chapel. Arrangements are entrusted to Grand Forks Funeral Home. The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff and nurses at Hardy View Lodge and Christina Lake Manor for the care and support they provided, and especially to John’s personal doctor.
