In loving memory ~
The family of Joanne Winchester is saddened to announce her passing on November 14th, 2022, in Trail Regional Hospital. She fought a tough battle with circulatory problems since August.
Joanne had a long career in the restaurant business which started in her early teens until she finally hung up her apron at age 72!
She along with her husband Herb ran a successful business from the mid 70's to early 90's known as Shot's Restaurant. Together through their long hours from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. seven days a week, they developed relationships with truck drivers throughout the province. Their restaurant had a display of cups for many of the drivers and was known as "Joanne's Trucking Buddies".
Joanne's love for her family was very evident by how proud she spoke about all of us! She also had a special bond with her extended family who were made up of all the gals and their families who worked with her throughout the years. She felt very privileged to have had the opportunity to be a part of her great-granddaughters lives and was always their number one cheerleader.
Joanne is survived by her daughter Trish Hallstrom & partner Vaughan Cattle; her grandson Jayme and wife Kendra Hallstrom; her granddaughter Breann and husband Harland Venema; her two beautiful granddaughters Jacey and Kennady Hallstrom and many other nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Herb Winchester; son-in-law Bud Hallstrom; her sister and brother-in-law Donna and Bill Peever, and brother Ron Armstrong (surviving spouse Joan Shaw).
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Greenwood Legion on January 14th, 2023, from 12:00 - 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of cards and flowers, if you wish, please donate to your local food bank.
