Jean passed away peacefully with her daughter by her side at the Royal Jubilee Hospital, October 2, 2012, at the age of 85. She graduated as an RN from the Royal Jubilee Hospital in 1949. Her nursing career took her to Victoria, Grand Forks, Oliver and Revelstoke. Jean went on to teach Practical Nursing and Home Care at Selkirk College, Nelson, B.C.. She retired to Victoria in 1981, continuing her volunteer nursing service through the Royal Jubilee Nursing Archives.

She leaves behind her husband Edwin and brother Ron Roylance (Audrey), as well as a combined family of 7 children, 17 grandchildren, and 6 great-grandchildren. She leaves the legacy of a beloved wife, sister, mother, aunt, cousin, nurse, teacher and friend. Jean has touched so many peoples lives and will live on in spirit through them.

Thanks to the wonderful staff at the Royal Jubilee Palliative Care unit and Marrion Village, who looked after Jean with care, compassion and love. Donations in Jean’s memory may be made to the Royal Jubilee Hospital Nursing Archives. A celebration of Jean’s life will be held at Marrion Village,1968 Bee Street, on Sunday, October 14, 2012, at 1 - 4 pm.
