Jean was born in Grand Forks B.C. to Victor and Elizabeth Knowles. She grew up in Grand Forks, then trained as a teacher and taught in several schools in B.C. until marrying and starting her family in 1950.
After raising her family, first in Victoria, then in Vancouver, she taught ESL part-time and volunteered extensively in the community.
Jean enjoyed hiking, cross-country skiing, travelling, gardening, camping, singing, lawn bowling and most of all her family. She was always loving, supportive, and enjoyed any family gathering.
Jean is predeceased by her loving husband of 64 years, Fred (Fudge), her brother Alf, sister Alice and son-in-law Chris.
She will be deeply missed by her children Gwen, Tom (Catherine), Vicki (Mark), grandchildren Dawn (Jordan), Scott (Tracy), Sean (Megan), Carly (Steven), Caitlin, Libbie (Danny), Sam (Nicole) and great-grandchildren Stella, Carson, Carter, Savanna, and Sawyer.
A service for family will be held at a later date.
