In loving memory ~
Jackie Pollock of Christina Lake, entered into rest surrounded by her family on May 1, 2024 at the age of 82.
Jackie is lovingly survived by her husband of 51 years Bob Pollock, her children Michael, Louanne and Evelyn, her sister Louise, brother Laurent, and beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Jackie was born to parents Jean and Claire Fortier and grew up in Zenon Park, Saskatchewan. Her childhood on the farm is something she remembered with joy and humour.
Jackie lived and worked in Calgary for a few years before she met her husband, Bob. After marrying, they moved to Grand Forks, where they opened a Robinson's and then a Steadman's store which they operated until retirement. They raised their three children in Christina Lake.
Jackie was someone who liked to be involved and engaged, but the onset of Alzheimer's in her 70s effected a gradual withdrawal from community activities. Jackie enjoyed almost any sport, especially biking, hiking and swimming. Many summer weekends found her camping and taking in the beauty of the rivers, lakes and mountains of B.C. with her family. She loved to spend tranquil evenings tending her garden, but she also liked an animated game or sharing a laugh. Jackie was a supporter of the arts, contributing in various ways to productions of Rivers Edge Theatre, and serving on the board of the Boundary District Arts Council. Jackie was also a devout Catholic and up until the time she could no longer do so, she remained involved in her local parish.
Funeral services will be at Sacred Heart Church in Grand Forks later this summer.
Heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Hardy View Lodge for their kindness and excellent care of our dear wife and mother.
