Jack Mikhailovich Makortoff

May 18, 1960 – May 19, 2015

Jack was born May 18, 1960 to Doukhobor parents Mike and Pauline Makortoff and was a lifelong member of the USCC. Jack was a very giving and loving individual with strong ties to his family. He most loved gardening and had an organic farm on the family’s land, growing organic vegetables and was known as the tomato king! In the last nine years his health deteriorated and forced him to step back from physical work. On May 18, 2015 they day of his 55th birthday, he was rushed to the hospital after a battle with pneumonia. He was transferred to Trail Hospital were on the evening of May 19, he peacefully passed away with his family by his side. He was predeceased by his father Mike Makortoff in 2000, as well as grandparents and other extended family. he leaves behind his mother Pauline Makortoff, brothers Michael, Dmitri and Yuri – nieces Amy, Trina, Kalyeena and Chelsea – great nieces Alanna, Taya, Rowan and great nephew Aden – as well as many other relatives and friends. He will be deeply missed and remembered by all who knew him. May God accept his soul into his Heavenly Kingdom and may he rest in peace. A celebration of Jack’s life was held on Monday, May 25 in Grand Forks, B.C. at the USCC.
