April 24, 1931 - June 15, 2021
Hiroshi Terashita slipped away peacefully at Grand Forks Hospital on June 15.
Hiroshi was preceded by son Stanley, and survived by his wife Aiko of 59 years, daughter Linda, son Roy, grandchildren Stewart, Josie, Adam, Ronnie son-in-law Claus and daughter-in-law Faye.
Hiroshi was born in Nanaimo, BC, on April 24, 1931 to father, Tokuzo and mother, Tei. He was the youngest of 7 siblings. Hiroshi, with his family, were interned to Greenwood in 1942 during WWII, where he continued to call home after the end of the war.
Hiroshi and Aiko were married on Feb. 17, 1962, and he worked in the logging industry until his retirement at age 65. Hiroshi was diagnosed with COPD in 2018, but his health remained relatively stable until he had a sudden decline after his 90th birthday.
Aiko cared for Hiroshi at home for several weeks until he was admitted to palliative care at Grand Forks Hospital on June 13. Hiroshi will be remembered by his family and friends for his great sense of humour, his easy going attitude, his infectious smile, and his love for all food.
We would like to thank Dr. Slatnik, Dr. Dressler, the home care nurses from the Boundary Health Unit, and the staff and nurses at Grand Forks Hospital for all their support and kindness towards our family over the last several weeks...we couldn't have made it through these difficult times alone.
