September 17, 1942 - June 23, 2019
Helen Tomilin was born into the Hadikin family on September 17, 1942. She grew up in Castlegar, the second oldest among five siblings. Helen married Peter Tomilin on January 5, 1963 and moved to Grand Forks; where they raised their three kids Debra, Luba and Mike. Peter passed away suddenly in 1995. Helen met her new life partner Jim Fraser in 1999 and they've been together in Grand Forks ever since. Helen was known for her love of family, her big gardens, her Russian cooking, her generous hospitality, her welcoming smile and her kindness to all. It was commonly said that Helen made the best borscht and could make a friend anywhere, and everywhere she went.
She made her journey into her Saviour's care on June 23, 2019 after a brief battle with health complications.
She is survived by her Jim, her three kids, three grandkids Amanda, Kayla and Brett and two great grandkids Maddison and Hayden.
Helen was full of grace, and she will be dearly missed. Thank you to all those who attended Helen's Celebration of Life Service and luncheon. The attendance and support has been overwhelming. She was well loved!
The family is thankful for all the love and support that's been poured out by family, friends, neighbours and health care professionals.
