In Loving Memory ~
Helen Perry passed away in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 21, 2024 in Grand Forks B.C. after bravely fighting cancer for the last two years.
She was born Helen Makortoff, in the Makortoff Village on Hardy Mountain, just outside of Grand Forks B.C. in 1942 to her parents Nick S. and Florence Makortoff. Helen spent her childhood and youth in the village where she grew up alongside her brother Paul and sisters Phyllis, Maureen, Susan and Verna, along with many friends that she would remain close with for her whole life.
Then at age 21, Helen moved to Burnaby and it was there that she met the love of her life, Philip Perry.
Helen and Philip were married September 1967, after which the couple continued to live and work in Burnaby.
In 1971, Helen gave birth to the couple's first child, Dennine and two years later in 1973, the family welcomed their second child, Duane. After the birth of their son, Helen and her family moved back to Grand Forks. Helen split her time between being a mother and working outside the home, having held many different jobs over the years.
Her passion was customer service, as she spent many years as a cashier at Overwaitea, worked at the local bottle depot and before retiring she worked at Rilkoffs' store for many years. Helen also loved gardening in her spare time.
Helen was predeceased by her daughter in 2015, husband in 2016 and son in 2020. Helen leaves behind her sister Phyllis Gritchen, her brother and sister-in law Paul and Marlene Makortoff, her brother in laws John Chernoff and Bill Koftinoff.
She also leaves behind her three precious grandchildren whom she loved with all her heart and soul Jessica (Alex) Erixon, Justin Smith, and Caden Perry, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and cousins.
A private service will be held for her on Saturday, October 5, 2024 at the Sion Cemetery in Grand Forks.
May she rest in heavenly peace with
her beloved husband and children.
