Helen Marie Petersen Dobie Born
August 31, 1924 and passed away March 16, 2015.
In the 3 ½ years that Helen lived in Grand Forks she came to love the community; the special friendships at the Silver Kettle and St. John’s United Church, and the welcoming community events. She loved the Fall Fair, the Grand Forks Library, the Meadow Larks that sang to her in the fields nearby her apartment, and her dear “table mates”. The extended Dobie family wish to convey their deepest appreciation to the communities within the Silver Kettle – residents and staff, the folks at St. John’s United Church and the staff of the Interior Health Home Care and Grand Forks Hospital for the gracious care and support for Helen in her last days. Deepest thanks go to the spiritual friendship and guidance from Kim Horwood and Jean Daniels, and the steady warm care offered by Brenda Spannier and Judy Foster.
“She comes sailing on the wind,
her wings flashing in the sun;
on a journey just begun,
she flies on.
And in the passage of her flight,
her song rings out through the night,
full of laughter, full of light,
she flies on”.
