Harold Eldon “Andy” Anderson, 75, died Friday, May 5, 2017, after a short illness at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital in Trail, B.C., surrounded by his family.

He leaves his wife of 54 years, Janet (Measham) Anderson, his sons Jim (Tanja), Sean (April) and Gregg (Becky). He is also survived by his sister Gloria (Tom), his brother George, and his four grandchildren, Chloe, Ben, Sam and Raili, as well as many close friends.

Born and raised in Grand Forks, B.C., Andy joined the Royal Canadian Air Force immediately after high school and served for thirteen years. While stationed in England, he met his future wife Janet and they were married six months later. Returning to Grand Forks in 1972, Andy opened Andy’s TV Centre, which became a Grand Forks institution for over thirty years. He not only took pride in his business, but he truly relished the many friends he made during his time operating the store.

At various points, Andy was a member of the Christina Lake Golf and Country Club, the Grand Forks Curling Club, and the Grand Forks Lions Club.

An ardent Texas Rangers fan for decades, in recent years Andy made the highly controversial switch in allegiance to the Toronto Blue Jays, a move resulting in ramifications felt to this day. Andy was also a lifelong music fan, and he passed on to his boys a deep love and appreciation for the classics, as well as instilling in them an encyclopedic knowledge of 20th Century pop culture.

Andy was a kind and gentle man who left the world a better place for his having passed through it.

Services will held Saturday, May 13 at the Grand Forks Curling Club at 1 p.m. with reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of BC & Yukon.
