It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gus Malakoff at the age of 89. He passed away peacefully at Grand Forks Boundary Hospital on Saturday, June 27, 2015 with his loving wife and family by his side. Gus was born in the Doukhobor village of Krestova in Crescent Valley, B.C. to parents Fred and Tina Malakoff. He was the youngest of four siblings, half-sister Alice (Druits), half-brother William and brothers Walter and Sam Malakoff. He spent his youth living and working in Winlaw, BC and surrounding area. In 1949 Gus met Lois Pauline Elasoff and on January 6, 1951 they were united in marriage. Soon after they moved to Grand Forks, B.C. where they made their home and ran a small hobby farm while raising their two children. Gus leaves behind his wife of 64 years, Lois; his son Mike (Lorraine), daughter Meledy (Lyle); and four grandchildren; Amanda Kurnoff, Nika (Josh) McPherson, Larya Kurnoff and Myia Malakoff.
