September 11, 1931 - July 10, 2018
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Fred Schereron July 10, 2018 at Boundary Hospital in Grand Forks B.C.

Fred was born on September 11, 1931 in Romance Sask. to Fritz and Josephine Scherer. He attended school in Romance until leaving home to work on various family homesteads in nearby communities.

In 1948, Fred drove his mother, father and sister, across the prairies and through the mountains of B.C. to settle in Grand Forks. Once his family was settled Fred went to work for a short time in Ocean Falls before returning again to Grand Forks. Upon his return he went to work as a mechanic for Airport Garage, then Wolfram Motors and finally The Department of Highways as a Heavy Duty Mechanic until his retirement.

Fred enjoyed projects, carpentry, machining, reading and computers.

In 1955 he married Lorraine Goffinet and together they had three children Debbie, Kenny and Cory.

In 1981 Fred married Mary Schafer and together raised her children.

He was predeceased by his mother and father, wife Mary, son Ken Scherer and sister Hildy Nix. Fred is survived by his wife of 24 years Leona (Lea) Scherer. Fred is also survived by; Daughters; Debbie Zibin (Steve), Cory Kazakoff (Paul), Granddaughters; Audra Britton (Dave), Amanda Zibin (Britton Chivers), Granddaughter; Becky Sagal (Matt), Grandson Evan Kazakoff (Chantelle) Granddaughters; Jennie Scherer (Jory), Cara Scherer (Dillon). Great grandchildren; Cole Britton, Calla Britton, Theron Sagal, Finley Sagal, Tanner Kazakoff, MacKenzie Hughes, Damian Monforton. Stepdaughters; Cheryl Lowe (Vern), Rhona Jordan (Jeff), Lori Pacheco (Paul) Stepson; Marty Schafer (Nat). Fred is also survived by Lea's children; Jessica Keith, Sharlette Haaf, Bill Haaf (Deb), Tim Haaf (Lisa), Dwayne Haaf (Linda).

Cremation has taken place. A private celebration of life will take place in September. Fred's ashes will be interred at the Evergreen Cemetery in the Scherer family plot.

A sincere thank you to all the doctors and nurses at Boundary Hospital who assisted Fred and comforted us. Thank you also to Deb and Aaron Baker for your help with the arrangements and assisting the family. We appreciate all the friends and family that came from afar. A special thanks to the wonderful neighbours, Charlie, Jim and Edie, who have been such a help and support to Fred (Dad) through the years, and for your continuing support of the family.
