Gladys (Anna) Kabatoff

Gladys was born December 25, 1930 to parents Alex N and Mary S Parakin in the Makortoff Village. Gladys received her upbringing and schooling in Grand Forks. In her teen years Gladys travelled with friends and cousins to the Okanagan, where they found work in the orchards. In later years Gladys worked for Orchard City Press in Kelowna at which time she met her husband to be Max Kabatoff. They married in June 1960 and spent many happy years living in Kelowna where their doors were always open to relatives and friends. In July of 1962, they welcomed the arrival of their son Rodney. The year of 1970 brought the Kabatoff family to Grand Forks where max found employment at Pope & Talbot. Gladys worked at various jobs in the area. At one time Max and Gladys owned and operated the West End Grocery. Gladys is survived by her son, Rodney and nieces Katie Steinbach and Chris Parakin and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Gladys was predeceased by her parents Alex N in 1971, Mary S in 1980, brothers Nick (in infancy), Alex A in 1992, sister in law Myrna in 2003, husband Max in 2005 and niece Margie in 2010. A graveside service was held at the Sion Cemetery in Grand Forks, on Monday, December 8th at 11:00 a.m. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Baker Family of Grand Forks Funeral Home, gffh@shaw.ca. Mom, Auntie; may you find eternal rest. We will not forget you.
