Gert Dorner passed away April13, 2016 at Hardy View Lodge at the age of 87.
Gert was born October 6, 1928, in Erickson, B.C. to Frank and Serena Lewis. Married to Henry Dorner on August 19, 1952, they moved with their 6 children to Grand Forks in 1965. Gertie was a long time and active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion, an avid bingo, card and lawn bowling player and a hard core walker. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Unfortunately, Gert was stricken with Alzheimer’s a few years ago but was well looked after by the staff at Hardy View Lodge.
Gert was predeceased by her husband, Henry, on July 19, 2009 and her great-grandson Levi James Dovedoff on March 23, 2016. She survived by her children Louise (John), Gerry (Jim), Wendy (Walter), Lyle (Jen), Lorne and Patty (Grant), grandchildren Jared, Joshua
(Shena), Brady, Jamie (JC), Kelsey, Tyler (Bethany), Cody, TJ, Alyssa, Henry, Kai, and great-grandchildren Wilson, Jordyn, Taylor and Sebastian.
There will be no funeral by request. Donations in lieu of flowers, may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society.
