It is with great sadness we announce the loss of our mom and grandma Gertrud (Trudy) Papp. She passed away at Hardy View Lodge after a long battle with Parkinson’s on November 18th, 2014 with her family by her side. Trudy was born December 1st, 1938 to Steve and Marie Szeidl in the small town of St. Jonas, Hungary. Trudy was predeceased by her husband Steve Papp on September 18, 2009, both parents, her sister and brother. Left to mourn are her daughters Lisa (Jack) Anderson and Kathy Papp; her grandchildren, Sandra Poznikoff (Lee), Andrea Poznikoff (Vance), Colin and Devin Anderson and many, many relatives in Hungary. Trudy grew up and received her education in Hungary. She met and married Steve in March of 1965 and followed him to Canada, where they began their life in Whitehorse Yukon. Trudy enjoyed the outdoors, she loved to garden, walk, camp and fish. Trudy loved to cook and bake which was enjoyed by everyone especially Steve. In 1980; while on vacation, Trudy decided she really liked the Grand Forks area and began looking at properties, her intentions were a surprise to the entire family but when her mind was made up there was no changing it. We moved here in July of the next year. Trudy worked as a chambermaid for a local hotel and then as a sales clerk at the Grand Forks Delicatessen on a part-time basis, leaving lots of time to dedicate to her husband, children and grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Monday, November 24th, 2014 at Grand Forks Funeral Home with the burial following at Evergreen cemetery. The funeral arrangements were entrusted to Deborah Baker of Grand Forks Funeral Home, Grand Forks, B.C. Happily reunited with her loving husband, Steve.
