In Loving Memory ~
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather George Kinakin.
George was born on December 3rd, 1934 in Thrums, BC to John and Polly Kinakin. It was there where he met Violet Markin, his future bride to be (it was love at first sight) who he later married in 1953 and together lived happily for 67 years.
It was also there that they had their first home to start their young family before eventually moving to Grand Forks in 1966.
At the age of 16 George began his hardworking career in the Lumber Industry at Waldies Sawmill in Castlegar. To be followed by many advancements where he eventually retired from Pope and Talbot in Grand Forks as a Quality Control Supervisor.
Throughout his life George loved spending time fishing, playing and watching sports with his favourites being hockey, baseball (Dodgers) and football (G.B. Packers). He also loved tending to the yard and garden, playing sudoku, travelling and spending winters in Yuma, Arizona.
George was predeceased by his parents John and Polly Kinakin and his brothers Mike, Walter and Pete. He is survived by his loving wife Violet, three children Jerry, Rick and Les, and five grandchildren Robert, Tomas, Becky, Tawny and Leslie.
We would sincerely like to express our thanks to our friends and relatives for kind wishes, words of sympathy and continued support. We would also like to extend a thank you to all the doctors, nurses and BC Ambulance Service for their help and support in his time of need.
No service upon request.

I'm Free ~
Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free,
I'm following the path God laid for me.
I took His hand when I heard Him call,
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work or play.
Tasks left undone, must stay that way,
I've found peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes these things I too will miss.
Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full - live savoured much.
Good friends, good times,
my loved ones touch.
Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Life up you heart and share with me,
God wanted me now;
He set me free
