Florence Strukoff

October 17, 1931 – November 11, 2014

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the loss of our beloved Mom, Baba, and friend who passed away at the age of 83. Born in Grand Forks, she attended school here and graduated in 1949. Florence married George W. “Kelly” Strukoff on February 16, 1952 and they spent their lives raising their family in Grand Forks. She and Kelly had great memories over the years of camping, fishing, snowmobiling, and bowling with their friends. She loved spending many summer afternoons swimming at her favourite beach. Her Wednesday morning coffee gang was very special to her, as these ladies have continued this tradition from the 1950s to present day. Florence enjoyed her card playing groups and always looked forward to a casino trip. Her positive outlook, courageous spirit, and unwavering strength were always admired. She loved to laugh and find the humour in any situation. She was predeceased by her parents Andrew and Annie Shlakoff, husband Kelly, sister Elizabeth (Albert Waite), brothers Mike and Jack, mother and father in law Dasha and William Strukoff, sister and brother in law Ann and Nick Strukoff, nephew Joe Strukoff, and great-grandniece Maya Sookochoff. She will be deeply missed by daughter Lorraine and husband Bill Wright, son Bob “Kelly” and wife May, grandchildren Kim and Kelley Wright, Matthew Strukoff and Becki Cheveldave, great-granddaughters Jessica Wright, Melissa Faulkner, Chelane Jones, Hadley Switzer, and great-great-grandson Nixon Henderson, as well as brother- and sister-in-law Mike and Helen Strukoff, nieces and nephews, friends, and her honorary sister and lifelong friend Elsie Stoochnoff. A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
