It is with great sadness that the family of Evelyn Dora Lucke announces her passing at Hardy View Lodge in Grand Forks on November 11, 2011.

Evelyn was born on June 17, 1924 in Merritt B.C. She lived briefly in the CPR whistlestop of Brookmere before the family moved to Penticton. Her father, several uncles, and various other relatives were long-time Kettle Valley railroaders. In 1945, she married Jack Lucke and they moved to Vancouver where they and their subsequent children lived for 25 years. A big move came in 1970 when she and Jack relocated to Christina Lake and they resided there until Jack's death in September 2000. The couple truly were soul mates and Evelyn followed through with plans they had made to return to Penticton shortly thereafter. There she remained until early 2011, at which time we were happy to see her return to Grand Forks.

Living on Christina Lake for many years, Evelyn was always delighted to have frequent visits from her children, grandchildren, and many good friends and to share good times together. She enjoyed a wide variety of social activities during her lifetime, including bridge, golfing, square dancing, knitting, and crocheting. She is survived by her three children: Jack Lucke Jr. (Ellen), Dona Bond (Rob) and Evelyn Bond; six grandchildren: Jennifer, Aaron, and Mike Lucke and Mark, Steven, and Craig Bond; and four great-grandchildren: Coralee, Acacia, and Nevaeh Lucke and Ethan Bond.

By request, there will be no service at this time. However, a celebration of Evelyn's life will be held by her children in the coming spring. Those who wish to are encouraged to make a donation to the Salvation Army and/or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Everden Rust Funeral Services had care of arrangements.
