EMMA JANE (JEAN) AULD

Jean passed away at 91 years of age at Hardy View Lodge on February 22, 2011. She was born in February of 1920 to Charlie and Elsie McLeod in Chapple, Ontario.

Jean attended teacher’s college in North Bay, Ontario, and then taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Stanley, Ontario.

During July 1941, she married George (Mac) Auld in Port Arthur, Ontario, later to be named Thunder Bay.

Jean and her husband travelled extensively until his death in 1988. In 1992, Jean moved to Grand Forks, B.C. She loved nature, especially at the summer cottage at Silver Islet on Lake Superior, Ontario, and at her home on Granby Road at Snowball Creek in Grand Forks.

Jean was predeceased by her parents; husband Mac; brothers: John, Dan and Jim McLeod; brother-in-law, Duncan Welsh; and son-in-law, Dave Foreman. She is survived by her daughter Rennie Forman (Bill) of Grand Forks, B.C.; her son, Bob Auld (Susan) of Thunder Bay, Ontario; five grandchildren: Pierre Foreman (Dianna) of Sylvan Lake, Alberta, Lori Forman (Paul) of Grand Forks, B.C., Robin Auld (Michelle) of Adrie, Alberta, Sarah Hunter (Andy) Edmonton, Alberta and Alex Auld (Melanie) of Montreal, Quebec; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Elsie Welsh of Thunder Bay, Ontario, and Joan Holmes (Bill) of Mission, B.C.; two sisters-in-law, Bernie McLeod and Alice McLeod of Thunder Bay, Ontario; and many nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Thunder Bay. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Baker family of Grand Forks Funeral Home, Grand Forks, B.C.
