Eilleen Popoff

November 11, 1928 – March 27, 2015

Eilleen Popoff passed away in Calgary, Alberta on Friday, March 27, 2015 after a brief illness. She was predeceased by her husband Fred M. Popoff in 1997 and is survived by three sons Allan, John and Gary; four granddaughters; three grandsons and a great granddaughter. Eilleen was born and lived most of her life in Grand Forks, B.C. before moving to Calgary in 2004 to be closer to her youngest son Gary and his family. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed a wide range of crafts, including weaving, quilting, crocheting and knitting, and passed on a lifetime of experience to her grandchildren, as they were her greatest joy. Her move to Calgary introduced her to a new group of friends, neighbours and activities. She was particularly active in the Hospital Auxiliary at the Foothills Medical Centre, her TOPS group, and also maintained a successful mini vegetable garden in the condominium’s greenhouse at Varsity Towers. Baba, as she was affectionately known by friends and family, was always a warm, considerate and caring mother, grandmother and friend and will be warmly remembered and greatly missed by all. A celebration of her life will be held at the Varsity Towers Social Room (4555 Varsity Lane NW, Calgary, Alberta), on Thursday, May 21, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. with a luncheon to follow. Photos, stories and condolences may be shared with Eilleen’s family through www.choicememorial.com. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Choice Memorial (403)-277--7343.
