Donald Leslie Brothers was born November 8, 1923 in Grand Forks, B.C. and passed away on February 9, 2017 at Hardy View Lodge in Grand Forks, B.C. at the age of 93.

Don was predeceased by his first wife Dorothy Brothers, parents Montezuma and Lorna Brothers and brother Ted.

He is lovingly survived by wife Betty Brothers, Daughters Lana Collins (John), Linda Brothers, Leslie Brothers and stepdaughter Alycia Wybou (Terry). His grandchildren Joe Viszket, Lisa Laflamme (Erik), Joanne Merritt, Bobbi & Zorion Terrell, Challen Wilkison, Kristen Wiebe, Devan Wybou, Brendan Wybou, Meaghan Forrester and great grandchildren Emma Terrell, Mikayla Wybou.

As a young man, Don became a pilot with the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II. Later he practiced law in the Province of B.C. and then represented Rossland – Trail in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1958 – 1972 with the B.C. Social Credit Party; becoming the Minister of Mines and Petroleum Resources in 1964 and the Minister of Education in 1972. He was appointed to the Provincial Assessment Appeal Board of B.C. and after that he was appointed to a number of Indian Bands to chair the Assessment Review Board.

There will be a memorial service on Saturday, February 18 at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Grand Forks, B.C. with the reception lunch at the Christina Lake Community Hall at 12 noon.
